Hastening the day

Worldly mire and muck surround,

Darkness, hopelessness, oppression abound.

 Our Inadequacies in all shapes and forms

Delaying what our hearts are yearning for.

God’s returning bringing heaven on earth.

The timing  all about His created beings worth.

We who “gnosco” him desire to hasten the day

And yet the slowness in coming is His love on display.

Planned for ions ago before the fall,

Preciously poured out in offering for all,

The reconciliatory gift of blood.

Ours then the honor to loose this life gift and let flow and flood,

Seeping into the darkest spaces,

Carrying the tide of hope to the remotest places,

We who wish for the Lords returning time,

We must in truth and in his righteousness march behind

Walking and growing in grace and holiness

Looking to the day when all knee’s bow and tongues confess.

 ^{2 Peter 3:9-12“} The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you,^[a] not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies^[b]will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.^[c]

¹¹ Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, ¹² waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! ¹³ But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.”
