Valuable

What does it mean to be a woman in America today.? Looking at my Facebook feed today two posts stood out, one about The If Gathering (a movement to empower women to move into their God given talents and help others) and posts about The 50 Shades of Gray books and  upcoming movie.  I tend to stay away from commenting on controversial issues but  am amazed that as a culture the one will be rejected because it has a religious connotation and the other is accepted as an expression of individuality. We as women are accepting the lie that it is our right to have freedom in our sexuality and yet today more women are sexually enslaved than ever before. It boggles my mind that educated women will spend money on this film and that the books have had such a welcome. Belief in God or not where are the true feminists? Women are valuable and yet they are one of the most marginalized groups. How can we as women accept this. What should our  response be  besides just ranting on social media? Isn't it to empower, love, honor and and care for each other and not allow our sisters to be abused or used for some one else's pleasure.

  1. I completely agree. This book/movie is so upsetting. Not only does it promote a lie about sexuality, but further keeps women in a position of sexual commodity, insecurity, lack of personhood, etc. I am surprised feminists have not spoken up. Well, unless you count you and me. ;)
